GUNBROKER.COM: Sportsman’s Legacy has been a strong seller on GunBroker.com. How long have you been listing products on GunBroker.com? 

SPORTSMAN’S LEGACY: All in, we have been presenting items on GunBroker.com for just a few weeks shy of 25 years. Initial participation was quite modest – a handful of firearms and some hunting books supported by amateur photography and cryptic descriptions. As we adopted a sharp focus on fine firearms, our business grew and, when launching Sportsman’s Legacy 10 years ago, we did so with GunBroker.com as our primary marketing partner. This relationship remains unwavering and is a cornerstone of our success.

SPORTSMAN’S LEGACY: GunBroker.com offers the greatest market reach available today. Combined with the auction component preferred by many potential buyers, presentation of items on the platform generates a significant amount of our annual sales volume. Equally important, discussing the advantages of GunBroker.com exposure is a major selling point during our initial client presentations.

GUNBROKER.COM: Can you tell us what sets you apart from other sellers?  

SPORTSMAN’S LEGACY: Sportsman’s Legacy provides proper market representation for the finest sporting arms. Items of this nature, whether from collections, estates or those being monetized by nonprofit conservation organizations, require an experience-based valuation process as well as a proper market presentation to ensure the most agreeable results. We also frequently present items with significant historical interest. For these reasons, Sportsman’s Legacy represents organizations such as the Boone and Crockett Club, Dallas Safari Club Foundation, U.S. Shooting and the Wild Sheep Foundation. We count among our clients many well-known gunwriters, gun/hunting magazine publishers, celebrities, and several of America’s foremost firearm collectors. This client base acts as a draw for all our items, with potential buyers selecting us a “Favorite Seller” so they can frequently and easily review our newest postings.

GUNBROKER.COM: In most cases, your product listings are of high-end, unique firearms. Some would consider most of the firearms you list as “collectibles” and or “investments.” Do you feel that GunBroker.com offers a platform for shoppers to find unique products that cannot be found elsewhere?                                   

SPORTSMAN’S LEGACY: Much of our inventory is valued in the middle thousands and dozens of our 350+ current listings reach well into the five, six or even seven figures, GunBroker.com has proven itself a strong platform for selling items of significant value. An impressive number of collectors and investors frequently monitor GunBroker.com. To be honest, others who sell high-end firearms would do well with similar exposure. More fine firearms posted on GunBroker.com fosters stronger sales for all of us in this category.

GUNBROKER.COM: We know that your listings only include professional photography. Your photos do a fine job of displaying strong attributes of each product. This must take a great deal of time. How important do you feel strong photography is your business on GunBroker.com?

SPORTSMAN’S LEGACY: Especially as it relates to fine firearms, professional-quality photography and complete/detailed descriptions are critical to success. On the average, we spend three hours examining, preparing, photographing and composing descriptions for each listing. Some firearms, generally those with extensive engraving or custom features, require as much as two full days of preparation prior to posting. It would not be possible to accomplish what we do for our customers without these efforts.

GUNBROKER.COM: As a seller who’s been on GunBroker.com since the beginning, you’ve seen many changes on the platform. You’ve recently embraced new offerings on GunBroker.com such as launching a store on GunBroker.com (https://www.gunbroker.com/s/seller/sportsmans-legacy/ ) and you’ve dabbled with some of the advertising opportunities offered to sellers to gain visibility to your listings. Can you tell us if you believe that’s helped grow your business?

SPORTSMAN’S LEGACY: As our business has grown and special items or collections have come our way, we have reached out to GunBroker.com for suggestions and advertising assistance. The menu of opportunities presented each time has dramatically increased, of course, and by taking advantage we have concluded thousands of sales to our complete satisfaction. Today, we always contact to GunBroker.com in the earliest stages of market planning and rely on their input as that of a partner.
